CHALLENGES, FRUSTRATION & FLEETING MOMENTS. A FEW WORDS FROM FRANK FERGUSON
Landscape photography presents many challenges including rising at ungodly hours and the frustration that the weather only rarely cooperates. Luck also plays a big part, but the chances of being at the right place at the right time improve when the right places are visited many times. The reward comes when nature produces a moment or two of magic and a photographer does his or her best to capture the scene in a photograph. The images on display represent the best of the fleeting moments of magic that nature was kind enough to show me during the past three years. I hope you enjoy them. Frank Ferguson

FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN THE TECHNICAL SIDEThe photographs were taken in Raw format using either a Canon 5D MkII or a Canon 1D MkIII and various Canon “L Series” lenses. Lee neutral density filters and a B&W polarising filter were sometimes used. Post capture processing (using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop) was done to correct colour saturation, contrast, tone and brightness. The techniques applied are identical to those used in traditional darkroom printing and are aimed at representing, as close as possible, the scene in front of the camera at the time of firing the shutter. |
HAHNEMUHLE PRINTING & FRAMING INFORMATIONAll photographs are printed on Hahnemuhle FineArt Pearl 285 gsm paper using an Epson pro 4880 large format printer. The printing method and paper used should ensure that the print remains in perfect condition for approximately 75 years. Framing, the only sub-contracted part of the process, is done to a high quality and with great care by John Scanlon of Art Framing & Bona Crux. |
